The Ohlone College Multimedia and Graphic Arts Festival is a showcase of Multimedia and Graphic Arts student work.

2. General Rules and Categories of the Multimedia and Graphic Arts Festival 2019
General Rules:

  1. The competition is open to students who have taken and/or are taking classes from the Ohlone College Multimedia and Graphic Arts Department (see Eligible Classes below).
  2. All entries must be original. Plagiarized work will be disqualified. Submissions must be created/implemented 100% by the submitting student(s).  Assets such as artwork, photographs, or programming code not created, written, or implemented by the student with the exception of available open source licensed material is forbidden and subject to disqualification.
  3. Projects created in Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 will be accepted. Also, work created prior to the Fall 2018 will be accepted on an individual basis.
  4. Entries submitted from past festivals are not accepted.
  5. No limit on total entries but 2 entries per student per category.
  6. For video game submissions, maximum of 2 individual or "1 team project + 1 individual" is allowed (i.e. video game team project submission counts as 1 entry for each student in the team).
  7. Video Game Team Project must complete online entry form that list - each team members names, student ID, and email addresses. Maximum of 3 total students allowed for team submission.

  9. Entries with incomplete or illegible entries that do not comply to the rules specified in the Category Rules (see below) will be disqualified.
  10. The Ohlone College Multimedia and Graphic Arts Department reserves the right to display entries on its website, posters, brochures for the sole purpose of promoting the Multimedia and Graphic Arts Department and Awards Ceremony, for showcasing student work. The Multimedia and Graphic Arts Department respects entrant intellectual property rights.
  11. Each Category Chair has the option of switching an entry to a more appropriate category.
  12. The Juror may decline to give an award if an entry does not meet its standard of quality.

Category Rules:

  1. 2D Animation (inlcuding Motion Graphics and Stop motion)
    Any animation that portrays movement of text, graphics, pictures, and sound that conveys a story, concept or message. Animations made in Adobe Animate, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop or any other animation application will be accepted.
    Submissions must be in .mov format. Enclose files in a folder and use proper naming conventions.
  2. 3D Animation
    Any 3D computer generated animation that conveys a story, message, and emotion.
    Submissions must be .mov or .avi format with supporting files. Enclose files in a folder and use proper naming conventions.
  3. 3D Modeling
    A high-detailed 3D model whose dimensional forms were created, shaped, colored, textured and lit in the computer.
    Submissions must be .jpg format that is sized no less than than 1024 pixels in height or width. File size limit is 10MB. Enclose files in a folder and use proper naming conventions.
  4. Digital Imagery and Concept Art
    A high-detailed images with forms that were created, shaped, colored, and textured in the computer.
    Submissions must be .jpg format that is sized no less than than 1024 pixels in height or width or PDF format. File size limit is 10MB. Enclose files in a folder and use proper naming conventions.
  5. Web Site, Mobile App and Interface Design
    Any graphical interface, such as a website, that users interact with or which serves a functional purpose.
    Submissions must include the entire site root folder with supporting files. Enclose files in a folder and use proper naming conventions.
  6. Vector Illustration
    Any digital art that was created using vector illustration software programs, such as Adobe Illustrator
    Submissionsmust be .pdf format. Enclose files in a folder and use proper naming conventions.
  7. Poster design
    Any digital art in poster format.
    Submissions must be .pdf format. Enclose files in a folder and use proper naming conventions.
  8. Branding
    Any Logo, stationary, marketing collateral and products & packaging design.
    Submissions must be .pdf format.Enclose files in a folder and use proper naming conventions.
  9. Video Game Design
    An original playable game.
    Submission: A mod may be submitted but it must be significantly different from the source material, in terms of both mechanics and content.
  10. Typography
    Any design in which typography is the primary visual element.
    Submissions must be .pdf format. Enclose files in a folder and use proper naming conventions.
  11. Interactive Media
    Any Augmented Reality project accessible through the Ohlone AR account
    Submissions: Trigger image needs to be submitted.
  12. Digital Video
    Any narrative and documentary video produced in the Multimedia and Graphic Arts department
    Submissions: Youtube, Vimeo or google dive (mov file)

3. Submitting Entries:

  2. Submissions must have a directory folder with a name in the following format:
    • Category_LastnameFirstname_projectname
    • Online form must reference this directory. This is how we will know who's project belongs to whom in the main MM Festival directory.
    • To not follow this directory naming structure could warrant immediate disqualification.

  3. Category directory names are as follows:

  4. Video Game / Team Project: Online Entry Form choose Group and fill in names of the team members involved in a group project.

Give your entries, either:

  1. To your Instructor
    OR
  2. Upload and share the project with us so that we can download it via a file-sharing website such as You Send It, Hightail, Dropbox, MediaFire, Google drive. Make sure to include the password for us to access the project or set your share settings correctly. Send an email to ireichert@ohlone.edu or  Al Jauco at ajauco@ohlone.edu.
  3. Be sure to submit prior to deadline as stated at the top of the page.
